However, the ministry's figures are disputed by the unions in the sector, which mention a rate of 50% of teachers on strike.

The mobilization against the pension reform continues in schools.

This second day of national mobilization on Tuesday is marked by a rate of striking teachers of 25.92%, including 26.65% in primary education and 25.22% in secondary education, according to the Ministry of National Education.

These rates are lower than those of January 19, during the first day of mobilization against the government's project: the rate of striking teachers was then 38.5% on a weighted average, according to the ministry, of which 42.35% in primary (nursery and elementary schools) and 34.66% in secondary (middle and high school).

But the teachers' unions for their part counted many more strikers on Tuesday, at least 50% among the teachers, from kindergarten to high school.

50 to 55% of strikers according to the unions

The Snuipp-FSU, the leading primary union, speaks of 50% of primary school teachers on strike, a rate calculated from statements by school teachers collected before the strike.

In secondary education, the Snes-FSU, the leading union, announced on Tuesday a rate of 55% of striking teachers in colleges and high schools.

"The strike against the pension reform is rooted in colleges, high schools," said the Snes-FSU in a statement.

“For the second time in ten days, the strike is in the majority in the second degree.

Proof of the strength of the mobilization, once again colleges are closed and, new element, school lives are also closed because they are totally on strike, ”he added.

There is also a slight drop compared to January 19.

The Snes-FSU had announced a rate of 65% of college and high school teachers and the Snuipp-FSU had identified 70% of strikers among school teachers.
