Actor Alec Baldwin and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed have been charged with manslaughter following their fatal incident while filming Rust.
The news agencies Reuters and AP report, citing court documents filed on Tuesday by the prosecutor in the US state of New Mexico.
The filing comes nearly two weeks after the agency first announced it would take criminal action against Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed.
Both protest their innocence and had announced in advance that they would take action against the indictment.
In the incident during the shooting of the low-budget western »Rust« on a film ranch in Santa Fe, chief camerawoman Hutchins was fatally injured on October 21, 2021 and director Joel Souza was hit in the shoulder.
Baldwin, who serves as a lead actor and producer on the film, had operated the gun in rehearsal for one scene.
Investigations revealed that the Colt contained a real cartridge.
When the indictment was announced, prosecutors said they would not be charged in connection with the non-fatal shooting of Rust director Joel Souza.
Under New Mexico law, involuntary manslaughter is punishable by up to 18 months in prison and a $5,000 fine.
Assistant director David Halls had previously reached an agreement with investigators.
He had signed an agreement alleging negligent use of a deadly weapon, which provided for a suspended sentence of six months.
According to the interrogation transcript, Halls admitted to the police as early as 2021 that he had not checked all the cartridges in the revolver's cylinder.
