the first part of the summer season.

According to data from

the Argentine Tourism Observatory

(OAT), all destinations showed very good occupancy levels: almost full capacity on the

beaches

of the Atlantic Coast and full occupancy on weekends in January in destinations in Córdoba and Entre Ríos.

In addition, in the main places in Patagonia -whether in the Cordillera, like Bariloche;

on the coast, as in Las Grutas;

or in the southernmost region, such as El Calafate and Ushuaia- between 85% and 90% hotel occupancy was registered during the first month of 2023.

In

 Puerto Iguazú

, for example, some 150,000 tourists entered the National Park that houses the famous Waterfalls during January, a figure that represents 12% more visitors than in the same month in 2022.

“We had

expectations of a great January

and the forecasts were fulfilled, with a very good level of demand and occupation in destinations throughout the country.

The level of reserves for February is also auspicious.

This new successful season consolidates tourism as one of the most important economic activities in the country”, said Matías Lammens, Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Nation.

For its part, the Argentine Confederation of Medium Enterprises (CAME) reported that the direct economic impact exceeded $800 billion so far this season, with real growth of 19.1% compared to last year.

An important piece of information is the

arrival of foreign tourists

: it is estimated that around 700 thousand entered during January, mainly from Brazil, Chile, Uruguay and the United States.

    "We had a start to the season that

    was improving week by week

    , with numbers that exceed, in the second half of January, 90% occupancy in many tourist destinations in the country. This allows us to have great expectations for the remainder of the summer with excellent results for our activity”, said Gustavo Hani, president of the Argentine Chamber of Tourism.

    "Regarding the

    challenges

    that lie ahead, the confirmation of Pre-Trip 4 for the next low season, added to the marked recovery of incoming tourism, will allow us to confirm what we have been anticipating:

    2023 will be a year of high impact and growth

    for the tourism industry," he added.
