(ANSA) - MILAN, FEBRUARY 01 - The elements "collected during the investigations" on the "personality" of Carlotta Benusiglio and on "her relationship with Venturi" exclude "the existence of realistic suicidal intentions of the woman" and reinforce "the accusatory hypothesis in the sense of holding the responsibility" of the 47-year-old "for the murder".

This was written by the prosecutor of Milan FrancescaCrupi who presented an appeal to ask that Marco Venturi, sentenced to 6 years for "death as a result of another crime", i.e. stalking his ex-partner, be recognized in second instance, instead, responsible for voluntary homicide for the death of the 37-year-old fashion designer.

The woman was found hanged with a scarf from a tree in the gardens of Piazza Napoli, in Milan, on the night of May 31, 2016.

In June of last year, the first verdict on the case had arrived, which remained a 'whodunit' for more than six years, with a decision that had surprised: for the investigating judge Raffaella Mascarino it was not murder but death, a suicide or a demonstrative act that ended in tragedy, was caused by her ex-partner, who allegedly subjected her to physical and psychological harassment and threats for two years.

The Public Prosecutor's Office, on the other hand, reiterates that the woman would have been strangled that night, after yet another quarrel, by her then partner, who would then have staged the suicide.

All the elements exist, writes the prosecutor, "to be able to classify Benusiglio's death in the context of the so-called 'feminicide', that is, the murder committed by someone who, after having ill-treated, harassed, persecuted and used violence against his partner, causes the death".

In the first instance he had asked for 30 years.

Even Venturi's lawyers, the lawyer Andrea Belotti and Veronica Rasoli, filed an appeal: about forty pages to ask that he be acquitted, because he is innocent.

(HANDLE).
