Elton John's farewell tour breaks all records.
According to Billboard, with the
Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour
, the 75-year-old singer raked in over $800 million, making his tour the most profitable in history.
He thus dethrones Ed Sheeran, who had generated more than 770 million dollars with
The Divide Tour
,
in 2019. Before that, it was the Irish group U2 who held this record.
In 2018, Elton John embarked on a 300 concert tour around the world.
The adventure should have ended in 2021 but the Covid 19 pandemic decided otherwise, forcing the singer to postpone his farewell for a few months.
In 2022, Elton John was able to go back on stage and say his first goodbyes to the public.
During two spectacular shows held on June 11 and 12, at La Défense Arena in Paris, the British artist paid a moving tribute to France.
But it was not his last appearance on the French scene.
Elton John will perform in Paris, this time at the Accor Arena, on June 21, 27 and 28.
Between June 21 and 27, the singer will make a quick return to the United Kingdom, to give a final concert there, on the occasion of the Glastonbury festival.
Farewell Yellow Brick
Road
will then end in Stockholm in July 2023, five years after it kicked off in the United States in September 2018.
