(ANSA) - MILAN, 01 FEB - A convict for Mafia, Massimiliano Sestito, 52 years old, escaped on the evening of 30 January from the house where he was serving home detention in Pero, in the Milan area.
The man, according to the carabinieri, tampered with the electronic bracelet to escape.
Sestito, believed to be affiliated with the Catanzaro 'Ndrangheta, has convictions for two murders, one of which for the assassination of a police officer in 1991, Renato Lio, and the other for a boss, Vincenzo Femia, in 2013. He had been released from prison by Terni on 12 January last.
The investigations are in charge of the Carabinieri of Milan.
