In a case considered to be the first of its kind in the world, a 34-year-old man from the United States was hospitalized after swallowing a banana wrapped in a condom in a fit of hormonal rage.

In the description of the case published earlier this week in the journal Cureus, it is stated that the patient (whose name has not been published) arrived at the hospital after experiencing abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting . He said he was unable to consume any food or drink and had not had a bowel movement for more than 24 hours, according to a report by the Jam Press.

Doctors performed a CT scan on him, which revealed that the poor guy had a banana wrapped in a condom blocking his small intestine. The patient, who reportedly has a history of depression, swallowed the creation in a 'hormonal tantrum.' He was rushed into surgery, where doctors were able to remove the fruit and protective measures. The accompanying photos taken after the surgery show the crushed banana inside the condom alongside a pair of surgical forceps .

The article states that he "denied intent to self-harm or a previous history of swallowing foreign bodies."

The man even insisted that he was not on drugs at the time nor was he drunk - and according to the reports this is a completely normal person.

The patient was discharged home three days after the operation, recovered and returned to his normal life.

The case report states: "Two weeks after the operation, he is eating a low-fiber diet, without nausea or vomiting. His stools are normal and the pain is well controlled."

In an examination conducted six months after the incident, it was written that "the patient continues to show normal bowel patterns. He was able to slowly resume his active lifestyle and does not seem worried."

It was the first known case of a person swallowing a banana inside a condom, according to the study.

The authors noted that small bowel obstructions are rare and usually result from "swallowing drug-filled condoms intended for drug smuggling."
