(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 01 - The Senate floor has unanimously approved the bill for the establishment of the commission of inquiry into femicide and all forms of gender-based violence.
With the definitive green light, the commission will now become bicameral with 18 deputies and 18 senators, for which each group will have its own representative.
Born in 2017 and so far only in the Senate, the commission has among its objectives, to investigate the dimensions and causes of femicide, monitor the implementation of the Istanbul Convention on the prevention and fight against violence against women and the ascertainment of any inconsistencies and shortcomings of the laws in force .
