Moments after the sentence that found Lucio Dupuy's mother and her partner guilty for the brutal crime of the 5-year-old boy, the family lawyer said emotionally that he is satisfied with the verdict and that the little boy
"will rest in peace
. "
"
We are relatively satisfied
, criminal responsibility matters, we want to see the foundations. But the important thing is that I let go of his hand and he will rest in peace," said lawyer José María Aguerrido.
The lawyer maintained that "there are
things that cannot be explained rationally but rather from hatred
."
For Aguerrido, the guilty plea "is a completed stage" because "the family's desire was to obtain a
plea of liability that amounted to life imprisonment
" and that "part of the work is done."
The emotion of Lucio's father and grandfather after the verdict.
The lawyer also insisted on the family's request for the defendants to be separated: "
The fact that they are together seems like a joke
," he launched.
In addition, he once again requested Judge Ana Clara Pérez Ballester's impeachment, and warned: "A province that is considered institutionally healthy has to arbitrate the springs to reach impeachment.
It would be unfortunate if the Dupuy family were forced to request the impeachment.
impeachment
."
"We have 30 deputies,
someone can come up
with it ," he added ironically.
Shortly after, the attorney general of La Pampa, Máximo Paulucci, stressed, in line with Aguerrido, that the "feeling is positive" because
the expectation of the sentence "is life imprisonment
. "
"
The feeling is positive
and we understand that the family has also considered it that way," he insisted.
The sentence was handed down after 12 o'clock by the Court of Hearings of La Pampa, which considered that Magdalena Espósito Valenti, Lucio's mother, was the perpetrator of the "triplely qualified homicide due to cruelty, treachery and the link" but it was acquitted for sexual abuse, while her partner Abigail Páez was the material author of the "homicide qualified for cruelty and treachery and for seriously outrageous sexual abuse."
The penalty will be formally resolved at a subsequent hearing, on Monday, February 13.
At the door of the courts, Ramón Dupuy, Lucio's grandfather, was embraced by hundreds of people who celebrated the guilty plea and shouted "perpetual and separated" for the baby's mother and her partner.
"
The two of them go on forever
," Ramón said as he could, in the midst of emotion.
He also questioned that Lucio's mother had not been found guilty of the crime of sexual abuse by arguing that "the DNA of the two was in the sex toys."
"This was achieved by all these people. Now the fight for childhood begins," he added as he responded to the hugs.
