Las Vegas police have arrested former actor Nathan Chasing Horse.

When searching his house on Tuesday in the north of the city, investigators found, among other things, memory cards with videos of sexual assaults;

also firearms, around 40 pounds of marijuana and psychoactive mushrooms.

That emerges from the police report, which was published on Wednesday.

The action was preceded by a months-long investigation.

The 46-year-old Chasing Horse has been accused of sexually abusing indigenous girls and women for over two decades.

He is said to have captured some of the incidents on video.

He is also said to have mediated some of his victims to other men who paid him for them.

He is also accused of marrying underage women and leading a sect.

According to the information, he lived in his house with five wives.

He was due to appear in court for the first time on Thursday.

Chasing Horse took on the role of young Sioux tribesman Smiles a Lot in the 1990 Oscar-winning western, Dances With Wolves, opposite Kevin Costner.

Almost ten years ago he was thrown out of the Fort Peck reservation in the US state of Montana.

Even then there had been allegations of human trafficking against him.

He was also accused of drug trafficking, spiritual abuse and intimidation of tribe members at the time.

According to current police records, Chasing Horse founded a cult called The Circle.

He taught his wives how to use firearms and told them to shoot police officers if they tried to “separate their families”.

Should such an action fail, according to the documents, the women should have swallowed »suicide pills«.

According to the Las Vegas police, there were allegations against Chasing Horse around 20 years ago that they should extend to several states.

The investigators said they found at least six women who had been sexually abused by him.

Some of them were only 14 years old.

"Nathan Chasing Horse used spiritual traditions and her belief system as a tool to sexually abuse young girls on numerous occasions," the investigators' report said.

The man's followers would have called him "medicine man" or "holy person" because they believed he could communicate with higher beings.
