For its first day in theaters, Asterix and Obelix: the Middle Empire pulverizes the box office


Guillaume Canet's feature film has already made 463,000 admissions and is making one of the best starts for a French film in ten years.

The mixed echoes in the press did not get the better of the public's enthusiasm.

, the feature film by Guillaume Canet inspired by the comics of the same name, achieved 463,000 admissions in France on the day of its release (including previews).

For the previews alone, 275,650 tickets were sold.

The film is making one of the best starts for a French film in ten years, according to figures from the distributor, Pathé, and relayed by BFMTV.

On France Inter, Guillaume Canet worried about the future of French cinema if the blockbuster did not reach its goal of achieving 5 million admissions.

The minimum, to reimburse the pharaonic production costs of the feature film, which amount to 65 million euros.

Early reviews in the press and early reactions on social media boded ill for the film.
