For its 47th edition, the festival innovates and sets up a cycle of creation around French rap, sponsored by a figure of the genre, Disiz.

Beyond the locomotives, like M and Juliette Armanet, the Printemps de Bourges will offer events in April, associating the singer Florent Marchet and the visual artist Sophie Calle or celebrating rap culture.

This 47th Spring, which opens the festival season in France, features nearly 150 artists from April 18 to 23, according to the program unveiled on Thursday.

Enough to attract the general public with Hervé, Izïa, Benjamin Biolay, Lomepal or Bob Sinclar and rap fans with Tiakola, Hamza, Gazo or Lorenzo.

Moreover, beyond the rappers in vogue, Printemps emphasizes, or rather the exclamation point, on this last aesthetic with

Rap!

, creation cycle, concerts, exhibition and screenings co-produced with Radio France and Sacem (Society of authors, composers and music publishers).

All under the sponsorship of a figure of the genre, Disiz (ex-Disiz la Peste).

"We want to question the interaction between music and society, with rap there are a lot of fantasies, there, we didn't want to be superficial but to offer a lot of things"

, explains to AFP Boris Vedel, director of Printemps de Bourges. .

Another extension,

Désir(s)

, theme of an evening with Oxmo Puccino as master of a ceremony around the next generation of rap, with Benjamin Epps, Jok'Air, Eesah Yasuke, Jäde and BB Jacques.

"We've been talking about it with Oxmo for two years, we wanted to make a creation around rap, Oxmo is a bit of the godfather (

"godfather"

) with a really concrete cast who will speak and put a message"

, develops the festival manager.

"To put yourself in danger"

Bourges also marks its difference with its event shows, such as the duo formed by the artist Sophie Calle and Florent Marchet.

“We have headliners, but the meaning of Bourges is to allow artists to return to freer creative times, excluding album promotion.

Florent Marchet and Sophie Calle know each other and Sophie Calle is very rare, it's a chance for us”

, comments Boris Vedel.

We also note the reinterpretation by a new generation of monuments which celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2022. The young singer Silly Boy Blue thus tackles Lou Reed's

Transformer

while Léonie Pernet seizes

David Bowie 's

Ziggy Stardust .

Neil Young's Harvest returns to the collective La Maison

Tellier

.

“We pass three peaks over 8,000 meters and these artists do not take the same paths as the previous rope parties, La Maison Tellier is on a project that has already been worked out but the others will put themselves in danger”

, savors Boris Vedel.

In addition to the faithful of the festival (Jeanne Added, Bertrand Belin, Emilie Simon, etc.), the French song of tomorrow will be exhibited, with Zaho de Sagazan for example.

And Printemps opens its stages to groups with loud guitars, Lambrini Girls, Enola Gay, Deadletter, Joe & The Shitboys.

In 2022, the Printemps de Bourges had attracted 250,000 festival-goers, figures including paid festival entries and free events in town.
