Police in Kenya on Thursday arrested five teachers at a primary school who allegedly had their students simulate sex as punishment.
A video of the incident published online had previously caused outrage.
The nearly 30-second recording shows four elementary school students in uniform reenacting sexual acts on school grounds - while the teachers look on.
As one of the boys wipes tears from his face, the six adults burst out laughing.
According to the police, the video was taken in an elementary school.
The school is around 300 kilometers west of the capital, Nairobi.
According to Minister of Education Ezekiel Machogu, the teachers involved can be subject to disciplinary measures up to and including dismissal.
Under the law, they also face prison terms if found guilty.
The video of the incident had spread rapidly in online networks, with many users demanding consequences.
“That's humiliating.
Adults should leave children alone," wrote one user on Twitter.
Another noted the trauma the incident could cause to the children involved.
