(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 02 - The Rome Public Prosecutor's Office has requested the closure of the investigation relating to the kidnapping of SilviaRomano, a cooperator of a non-profit organization kidnapped for 18 months in Kenya.
A file had been launched in Piazzale Clodio, coordinated by the deputy Sergio Colaiocco, in which the crime of kidnapping people for terrorist purposes was hypothesized.
The request for dismissal is also linked to the lack of cooperation from the Kenyan authorities who never replied to the three letters rogatory sent from Italy.
It was therefore not possible to formalize the accusation also in Italy against the three people currently on trial in Nairobi.
The dismissal request also concerns the segment of the investigation launched into possible responsibilities, in terms of safety, of the non-profit organization Africa Milele with which Romano had left for Kenya.
The girl was kidnapped on November 20, 2018 and released in May 2020.
