Tuscany
is confirmed as the
Italian region
most in demand by foreign couples to get married
, with 21% of the total: followed by the regions of Lombardy, Campania, Puglia, Sicily and Lazio
The data comes from the Destination Weddings in Italy
Observatory
, carried out by the Centro Studi Turistici, financed by the Ministry of Tourism and presented in Rome by the Ente Nazionale per el Turismo (Enit) and the Convention Bureau Italy.
In 2022,
the United States was the main country of origin
(29.2%) of foreign couples who decided to celebrate their wedding in Italy, but more than 57% of the events were generated by couples residing in European countries

The
tourist movement generated
by Italian spouses within the borders of their country is also relevant: it is estimated that in 2022 there were more than 7,160 weddings of Italian couples celebrated in a region other than their own.
The phenomenon seems rather new, since Italy was not among the most desired wedding destinations in 2021, according to the
Destination Wedding Index
ranking , which is compiled every year.
That year, based on the number of searches made on the Internet, the most desired wedding destination by far was the city of
Las Vegas
, in Nevada (United States), with 159,300 searches, followed by
Paris
(42,400),
New York
(34,500),
Cancun
(27,000) and
London
(16,500).

Miami, Sydney, Melbourne, Toronto and San Francisco completed the podium, from 6th to 10th place.
We will have to wait for the next edition to see if Italy, or Tuscany in particular, enter the ranking.
Mendoza wineries and exotic places
But these in the ranking are not, of course, the only places that couples choose to get married.
An impressive wedding party for Brazilians in a Mendoza winery.
Without going very far, the province of Mendoza is experiencing a boom in winery weddings, with parties of up to 100 guests, in the middle of vineyards and at the foot of the Andes mountain range.
The vast majority of matchmakers (and guests) are foreigners, and mostly Brazilians.
Undoubtedly, a destination with good gastronomy in which there is no shortage of excellent wines for toast time, in an environment of virgin nature or a cellar where old bottles gain years.

But some go much further in their demands and choose much more exotic sites, such as the 8,848-meter summit of
Mount Everest
, the highest peak in the world.
Those who cannot ascend to the summit have the possibility of getting married in a base camp.
Still, the guest list is going to be pretty small.
It is also possible to say yes to 25 degrees below zero at the
Hotel de Glace
, near Québec, in Canada: its rooms have no walls but... ice.
An underwater wedding: not so strange in Thailand.
Another rather unusual option is, for example,
the bottom of the sea
.
It is something much more frequent than one can imagine in
Thailand
, and in this case, to the suits and dresses we must add goggles and oxygen tanks.
There are also those who, in the distant archipelago of Vanuatu, choose to place their rings on Mount Yasur,
on the edge of a volcano
that spews smoke and ash, giving rise to unparalleled photos.
The site
where the Titanic sank
, and which sealed the love story of Rose and Jack, or
a safari among wild animals in Africa
, are some other examples of exotic, or at least far-fetched, places where to say yes.
