The Municipality of Haifa reports that in the last few days, work has begun as part of the second phase of the construction of the Behad Promenade in the Bat Galim neighborhood - this, let's recall, after the first phase of the construction of the promenade destroyed the historic wall, which surrounded the mythological training base of the Navy since its establishment during the mandate days for the Navy The Royal British.

With the demolition of the wall, the barrier that had prevented citizens from crossing the seashore for decades was removed for the first time and thus a connection was also created between two urban bathing beaches that were until today disconnected from each other - the Quiet Beach and the Bat Galim Beach.

The removal of the barrier was made possible thanks to a precedent agreement signed between the Municipality of Haifa to the Ministry of Defense, as part of which the area previously used by the Navy was transferred to the ownership of the Haifa Municipality.

What will she look like?

The promenade, which is being built for the municipality of Haifa through the "Yefa Nof" company, will connect the historic Bat Galim promenade to the Pacific coast, and will include, among other things, bicycle and pedestrian paths, unique seating and observation areas towards the Gulf of Acre, the Galilee mountains and Rosh Hankara.

Grass areas will be integrated along the length of the boardwalk and extensive gardening works will be carried out, fitness facilities will also be built along the boardwalk and a roller coaster will be built instead of the historic parade ground.

According to the municipality's estimate, the works are expected to last about a year in total.

In addition, as part of the works, the investment cost of which is estimated at approximately NIS 10 million, a new pedestrian bridge will be built, 50 meters long and 5 meters wide, after moving the fence of the navy base, in order to create a passage along the beach.

The new bridge that will be built will include four uprights, two of which will be in the sea water, and its construction will allow the passage of Navy boats to the sea, and this without interfering with the path of the pedestrian promenade.

With the completion of the construction of the BHD boardwalk, the sequence of beach boardwalks will be completed, which includes a walking route about 10 km long from "Zamir" beach in the southern entrances to the quiet beach in the Bat Galim neighborhood.

The sequence of promenades, which are illuminated along their entire length, crosses the beaches of Dado-Zamir, HaCarmel Beach, Shekmona Park, Hecht Park, Hubert Humphrey Street and the Bat Galim neighborhood and includes extensive lawns, cafes and restaurants, an amphitheater where summer events are held, activity complexes for families , fitness complexes, balconies overlooking the sea, one of the largest "skatepark" complex in Israel, Pamtrack complex for cyclists, cat-foot and basketball courts, adventure games complex and more.

The Mayor of Haifa, Einat Kalish Rotem:

"Establishing the Haifa Promenade is a main and important component of the municipality's plan to release and develop the coastal strip, which is a public asset of supreme importance.

I have no doubt that with the completion of the works, the public will be able to enjoy a spectacular stretch of beach and a unique recreation site, one of the most beautiful in the country."
