Ukraine: Unicef, aid for 350,000 refugees in Poland

(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 02 - Unicef ​​is distributing hygiene aids, first aid kits and life-saving medical equipment for more than 350,000 refugees in Poland who fled the war in Ukraine.


    Unicef's Office of Emergency Response in Poland, formed in the days after the outbreak of war in Ukraine, has also provided school supplies, such as pens, notebooks and learning aids for the benefit of 360,000 children, including 17,000 digital devices .


    Currently, Unicef ​​is distributing 10,000 first aid kits, 4,000 public hygiene kits (1 kit is useful for 50 people) and 80,000 family hygiene kits (each kit is useful for a family of 4).

Most will be distributed in 12 cities where Unicef ​​is collaborating: Warsaw, Łódź, Białystok, Lublin, Gdansk, Gdynia, Sopot, Poznań, Wrocław, Krakow, Katowice and Rzeszów.

These municipalities are distributing aid in schools, kindergartens, community centers and support hubs.

Aid is also distributed in collective reception centers for refugees and in 7 "Blue Dot" support centers in busy transit areas, which provide essential support to families fleeing the war in Ukraine.


    Unicef ​​also delivered an ambulance in Rzeszów to the Transit Medical Center, neonatal care equipment to the Bialystok Clinical University and the Mother and Child Institute, as well as ultrasound equipment to a hospital in Lublin.

We have also purchased 50,000 polio and 5,000 hepatitis A vaccines, as well as 50,000 syringes to ensure an uninterrupted supply of essential vaccines as demand increases.
