“I had never seen that, I think it's great”.

Passengers on line 1 of the Nantes tramway were intrigued and pleasantly surprised this Wednesday by discovering two pianists offering a concert of classical music, right in the middle of the tram.

On an upright piano, firmly secured with straps, Hervé Billaut and Guillaume Coppola played excerpts from their repertoire with four hands: Manuel de Falla, Moritz Moszkowski, Maurice Ravel… Lola Bourriau, a 19-year-old medical student, she, n didn't miss a beat of the show that she filmed with her mobile phone.

"It's impressive to have a piano on the tram," she said.

For Nadine Dupré, a 64-year-old retiree and music lover, "it's a wonderful idea to introduce classical music to a lot of people who don't have the opportunity to listen to it".

And that is precisely the goal.

“It's really the idea that music is present everywhere in the city,” explained René Martin, founder of “La Folle Journée”.

For the third year, the classical music festival has entered into a partnership with Semitan, a Nantes public transport company.

"You have to bring music where you don't expect it because not everyone has the chance like we had when we were children to have access to music", comments one of the two musicians, Hervé Billaut.
