It is a record number of entries for Birra dell'Anno, a competition organized by Unionbirrai which rewards the best craft beers and crowns the best Italian craft brewery of the year.
For the 2023 edition there are 2227 craft beers entered in the 45 different categories from 305 producers.
The tasters, coming from abroad and from all over Italy, are 80. The international jury of the XVIII edition of Birra dell'Anno will be hosted by the Rimini Fair, which will also be the venue for the award ceremony on the occasion of the opening day of the event "Beer&FoodAttraction", Sunday 19 February at 2 pm. There will be 3 prizes awarded for each category, to which will be added "the proclamation of the Brewery of the Year,
The winners will be able to take part in the BdA on tour project, "the events that bring the winning beers to Italian clubs with the desire to promote and enhance Italian craft beers" We expected - says Simone Monetti, general secretary of Unionbirrai - an edition important, but the numbers have gone even beyond expectations with as many as 2227 beers entered in the XVIII edition of Birra dell'Anno.
Number that far exceeds those of the 2021 and 2022 editions, but also those of the last pre-pandemic edition, which in 2020 engaged the jury in tasting 2141 beers.
These data fill us with pride, because they are a sign of the trust and esteem that Italian producers have in the competition.
