After finding out the
guilt of Abigail Páez (28) and Magdalena Espósito Valenti (25) for the crime of Lucio Dupuy,
the prosecutor's office that investigated the case provided more details about the horror to which the five-year-old was subjected in his last years. months and confirmed that there was a plan by the defendants to cover up the mistreatment to which he was subjected.
This was stated by Verónica Ferrero, gender prosecutor of La Pampa and one of those responsible for the investigation into the death of the child.
The prosecutor recounted some of the details behind the case and stated how she had a personal impact on "knowing the most macabre details" of the case.
"The actions of these people cannot be explained," she said.
In dialogue with Radio Con Vos, the prosecutor expressed her satisfaction with the court's decision to find both the mother and her partner guilty.
She there responded to the audios that were known in the last hours, which include the defense by the accused, where they express their regret for the fact.
"They are part of the material defense, they can give their version. They talk about themselves and do not mention the day of the event. There were 84 thousand messages sent between them, 16 thousand while they lived with Lucio until his death. If you read those messages, He doesn't have the impression (of regret)," he said.
According to what he said, there was a plan to cover up the situation of abuse suffered by the child.
"The two of them beat and abused Lucio Dupuy constantly and then they agreed on how to hide it. Not taking him to the garden, to the doctor, not letting the relatives see, isolating the child. They were able to continue with the chronic attacks," he said. .
For the prosecutor, both the messages and the expert reports show that Páez sought to cover up the fact and that the couple was not blamed.
"What she tried from the first moment she found the lifeless child was to pretend that it had decomposed, that third parties had entered, and that was totally ruled out, there were cameras pointing," she said.
Ferrero reconstructed Lucio's last day.
"The boy goes to school normally that day, we know it from the cameras. He arrives at 5:30 p.m., the two of them are seen entering with the child. They both leave at 7:40 p.m.. 8:40 p.m. Abigail returns alone and 30 minutes later she goes to the health post. The issue is that the autopsy says that he was beaten from 18 to 19 all over his body. The most decisive blows were to the head, which causes inflammation of the skull. But he was beaten by both. The only ones that were there were the two of them," he said.
"The theory of the prosecution is that the child was dying with loud music and the two withdrew. The mother to work and the mother's partner to buy tickets to go to a bowling alley. When she returns, she finds him either dead or in the last period of that agony. There is no possibility of not incriminating both of them for the mistreatment. It was also determined that he was sexually abused," he said.
Ferrero maintained that it could be proven that
Lucio "was an object of satisfaction"
for Páez and Valenti, even though they also considered that the child "was guilty of the fights" between the two.
"We cannot go into the head to see why the mother fought for custody. What could be proven is that the child
was an object of satisfaction for both to beat him, abuse him or collect money for having him,"
he explained.
It is that the couple received a food quota for possession, and they even asked the father's family for money so they could see him.
