2023-02-03T19:54:40.314Z

One study revealed that lack of money was the main reason for staying at home in 73 percent of cases. Last year that reason was 60.4.

Six out of ten Argentines did not go on vacation this summer season, revealed a survey by a private consultancy.

The figure repeats the proportion of the same period of 2022, but when asked the reasons why that other 60 percent will not travel,

the majority responded that it is due to lack of money (73%)

, which represents an increase of 12 .8 points compared to the summer of 2022.

The results of the study by the Management & Fit consultancy arise from 2,200 surveys carried out between January 6 and 25, and also show that among those who do not travel this summer (58.5% of all those who responded),

only 15 percent

plan to do it at another time of the year.

For the consultant "it is not surprising" that the lack of money appears as the main reason for not traveling, within the framework of "an accumulated inflation for 2022 of 94.8%".

Along the same lines, the increase in prices and tariffs was positioned as "the main problem in the country" for 48.6 of the people in surveys in December.

This summer, unlike the previous one,

Covid is out of the picture

.

“In the 'do not travel' for the 2022 season, we also had the economic aspect as the main aspect, but as a second, 20 percent of those surveyed indicated the fear of getting infected.

This is what does not happen this season, where the fear of getting infected has very few mentions, ”

the survey coordinator, Rosario Criscuolo , explained to

Clarín .

It is true that many spent the summer in the 2022 season, having not taken a vacation due to the pandemic for almost two previous years.

According to the survey, 20 percent of those who did not travel or will travel this summer season indicated that the last time they went on vacation was in 2022, while more than 40 percent said it was in 2021 or previous years.

Among those who did travel or will travel this summer season around the country (81.6%), the most chosen destination is the Atlantic Coast (33.7%), followed by Córdoba and the mountains (19.9%) and the Northwest region with the (13%), this last place increased 5.6 percentage points with respect to the previous season.

The relationship between those who will travel abroad this season with respect to those who will vacation in the country

remained practically stable

: there was an increase of 2.5 percent in favor of those who will move within Argentina.

Among those planning to travel abroad this season, which represent 15.7 percent of the total, Brazil is the most chosen place, with 40% of preferences, followed by other Latin American countries such as Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. .

15.8% will go to Europe, 2.9 percentage points higher than in 2022.

Uruguay seems to be a separate case.

While for 2022 it was one of the most chosen places along with Brazil, it barely reached

4.9% of the preferences this season

, implying a drop of 17 percentage points compared to 2022.

"This can be related to the

exchange rate difference

between neighboring countries since the Uruguayan peso was able to remain more stable than the Argentine peso throughout the year," they indicated from the consultant and explained that this influx of tourists will probably move to Brazil. which grew by 16% compared to 2022 in trips made and scheduled for this season.

Despite the people who could not go on vacation, Mar del Plata had a high influx of tourists.

At this point, Crisculo explained that "the cost of living in Argentina is higher than in Brazil, in addition to the fact that in Brazil the value of the dollar is falling" and pointed out that this "accompanies the drop in daily costs for the tourist who You can go to the beach in Brazil.”

The survey proves that among Argentines today the importance assigned to location is less than to other factors.

The most valued aspects are the

prices and costs

with 75% of the importance, the landscapes and natural attractions with 60%, the company, also with 60% and the location with 55%.

An interesting fact is that those who do not travel are 54 percent women compared to 45 percent men.

In terms of age, those who can travel are people from 35 to 54 years old (46%), from 16 to 34 years old (35.7%) and from 55 or over (18.4%).

Regarding the economic profile of travelers, 44 percent of medium-level people say they vacation this season, while only 21 percent of low-level people say they do.

Regarding the main characteristics of the trip, going on vacation for 15 days or more seems to be "a strange thing", according to the study, which points out that "the time allocated to rest is more than a week, but less than a fortnight for almost 50% of those surveyed who travel”.

On the other hand, 44 percent say they spend less than 10,000 pesos per day per person and the vast majority travel or will travel by private car (47%), followed by bus or bus (26%) and plane (18.6%). ).

The train represents barely 3%.
