(ANSA) - MILAN, FEBRUARY 03 - The S&P Global PMI index of services in Italy rose to 51.2 in January, up from 49.9 in December.
This is the best data since last June: the first growth in five months allows our country to exceed the threshold of 50, bringing the business back into a phase of expansion.
"The Italian tertiary sector has started 2023 on a positive note by marking the first simultaneous increase in both activity and new orders since last June", notes S&PGlobal, which notes how companies have "continued to hire additional staff, partly reflecting the growing optimism about the future ".
