Marie Kondo: This is how mucking out and tidying up works using the KonMari method

For tidying up expert Marie Kondo, happiness plays an important role in the KonMari method of tidying up and mucking out that she designed.

According to her, you should only keep the things that make you happy.

The order in which you should clear out is also important in Marie Kondo's KonMari method:

  • clothes

  • Books

  • papers

  • odds and ends

  • memorabilia

  • When clearing out each part, ask yourself the question, do I still need it or does it make me happy?

The items where the answer is no must go.

Then assign everything to a specific place.

On the one hand, this makes it easier for you to find it, on the other hand, space is limited and, true to the motto of minimalism, you don't get any more useless stuff for which you actually have no storage space available.

It is also important that things, especially clothing, are easily accessible.

Marie Kondo therefore recommends storing T-shirts, jumpers and the like next to each other in the drawer rather than stacked on top of each other in the wardrobe.

The more practiced you become with Marie Kondo's KonMari method of tidying up over time, the easier it will be for you to let go and say goodbye to things that you don't really need.
