This is the first major fire in the department at the start of 2023. This Saturday morning, a fire covered some 130 ha of vegetation in the Alpilles natural park, on the territory of the municipality of Mouriès (Bouches -du-Rhone).

The fire started around 5:30 a.m., according to La Provence, and it was fanned in the morning by a strong mistral, with peaks of up to 100 km / h.
Some 230 firefighters from across the department and a hundred devices were mobilized at midday, but the situation on the front of the fire "is favorable", according to a spokesperson for the fire department.
Sector to avoid
“The fire is under control,” for its part wrote the municipality of Mouriès on its Facebook page around 1 p.m., specifying that the electricity would be quickly restored where it had been cut.
The municipality has also asked residents to avoid the area for the time being.
Several homes in the area were protected, according to firefighters.
The gendarmerie, for its part, indicated that it had carried out the preventive evacuation of eight people, who were not injured, and had neutralized two roads passing through the sector.
According to France 3, no track is currently privileged on the origin of the fire.
