'Prison kills' and 'The state tortures'. These are the writings that can be read on some of the banners displayed in front of the gates of the gardens of Piazza Vittorio in Rome, where a sit-in is taking place in solidarity
with the Abruzzo anarchist
Alfredo Cospito,
who is detained under the 41 bis and on strike of the hunger against the harsh prison regime.
Various realities of Roman antagonism participate in the event, including social centers - such as the 'Strike' - and student collectives of the Sapienza.
The demonstrators are determined to march towards the east of the city, behind the banner 'Alongside Alfredo, against 41 bis and life imprisonment'.
"They said we are in cahoots with the mafia, but they didn't understand the meaning of our struggle. The prison of Opera (where Cospito is currently held - ed) is a lager", the demonstrators said to megaphones,
who announced a live connection with a sit-in that takes place at the same time also in Milan
.
There are several police officers and armored vehicles at the scene.
