Nadia Tereszkiewicz and Marion Cotillard
Why do you make movies
?
Nadia Tereszkiewicz.
–
It's still recent for me, but I make films because I have a crazy pleasure in acting, in meeting different worlds, in traveling through time, in living different lives.
Marion Cotillard.
–
Because I haven't found anything better to try to understand how this marvelous animal that is the human being works.
A basic need for me.

Why do you make movies?
Sandrine Kiberlain.
–
That's a question I've never asked myself, because cinema seemed obvious to me.
The first films I saw made me want to enter this framework and this oversized image.
It brings stories and characters to life.
Rebecca Marder.
–
To extract myself a little from my own life and live a thousand other different ones.
Movie and theater sets are the only places where I feel like I live entirely in the present.
Time is sacred there.
When I play, I feel more useful than anywhere else.
Rebecca Marder is nominated for
A young girl who is well
, by

MATIAS INDJIC
Why do you make movies?
Leah Drucker.
–
I make movies to get out of my reality and go towards those imagined by others.
I make films to travel, to meet people and to do things that I wouldn't dare to do in my life.
Bastien Bouillon.
–
To forget me, like when I make love, but it doesn't work every time…
Bastien Bouillon is nominated for

Why do you make movies?
Jonathan Cohen.
–
I still ask myself the question, but to be honest, the cinema is for the moment the only thing that fills me and makes me happy.
Mael Rouin-Berrandou.
–
To make me like it, because I love it, but also to make others like it.
Maël Rouin-Berrandou plays in

Why do you make movies?
Souheila Yacoub.
–
Because this profession is constantly evolving.
Myself, I often change my mind, because it's a profession that changes a lot: you meet new people, you have to constantly adapt.
It is very enriching.
Camille Cottin.
–
It was a dream to make films and, even if the desires evolve over time, it remains a job that I never tire of.

Kayije Kagame and Claire Denis

MATIAS INDJIC
Why do you make movies?
Kayije Kagame.
–
Because I strongly believe in Alice Diop.
She gave me my first experience at the cinema with her film
Saint Omer,
while I was evolving in the theater and in the world of contemporary art.
The cinema arrived late in my life, perhaps because my requirements were too great?
Claire Dennis.
–
When I see Alice Diop's films, I understand why we want to work with her!
As for me, I knew that I wanted to make cinema, because it was the only thing that interested me.
I forbade myself a little because when I started out, it was difficult for a young woman to start directing.
So I smuggled in.
Once my first film saw the light of day, I knew that they could no longer dislodge me.

Virginie Efira: Saint Laurent.
MATIAS INDJIC
Why do you make movies?
Mallory Wanecque.
–
I didn't ask myself this question because I had never thought of becoming an actress.
I was chosen during a wild casting and I accepted to play in
Les Pires,
because I was curious to see what a shoot looked like.
In the end, I loved playing and putting myself in the shoes of a character.
Virginia Efira.
–
For me, it's quite the opposite!
I always wanted to make movies, but I only managed to achieve this dream much later.
I even did another job before because I made this art so sacred that I was afraid to take the plunge.
I lacked self-confidence and lacked Mallory's spontaneity.
Why do I like cinema?
Because sometimes you feel more alive there.
Mallory Wanecque is named for
Les Pires

Pascal Greggory: Dries Van Noten.
MATIAS INDJIC
Why do you make movies?
Clara Bretheau.
-
Miraculously.
I always thought I would do theatre, but the idea of playing in a film, about a theater school that changes the life of a young girl, could only seduce me.
Pascal Gregory.
–
By mistake.
As I failed my baccalaureate twice, I had to do something!

Paul Kircher and Romain Duris

Romain Duris: Celine outfit, Boucheron jewelry.
MATIAS INDJIC
Why do you make movies?
Paul Kircher.
–
As the camera takes a lot from the actor, it forces him to feed constantly.
This quest carries us on a daily basis and allows us to go towards life with great momentum.
Romain Duris.
–
The cinema reinvents itself each time with different universes and people.
Few jobs allow that.
I also like that there is not really a goal to reach.
We don't always have the keys.
We play with our soul, our heart, our sensitivity.
Using all that enchants me.
There is nothing Cartesian in this profession.
Paul Kircher is named for
Le Lycéen
, by Christophe Honoré.
Shain Boumedine and Leila Bekhti
Shaïn Boumedine: Hermès outfit, Chopard watch.
Leïla Bekhti: Maison Margiela outfit, Tiffany and Co jewelry. MATIAS INDJIC

Shain Boumedine.
–
Because Abdellatif Kechiche made me discover this world and this job that I knew nothing about.
I got caught up in a game that I would find it hard to do without today.
Leila Bekhti.
–
Because I like to tell stories and tell myself stories.
I also think that playing characters helps me to accept things about myself and allows me, oddly, to be even happier in my life.
Shaïn Boumedine plays in Placés
,
by Nessim Chikhaoui.
