He's definitely happy inside: Bobi, officially the oldest dog in the world

It used to be said that a dog year equals seven human years.
If that were true, Bobi would already be 210. The Portuguese dog broke the world record as the oldest dog ever - at 30 years old.
The Guinness World Record organization officially announced Bobi as the new record holder on Thursday.
Bobi is a Rafeiro do Alentejo, a Portuguese dog breed.
Their life expectancy is usually given as 12-14 years.
However, Bobi was registered with a vet in 1992 and is still in excellent health.

Guinness World Records announced Bobi's new record with a video.
In it, his owner is quoted, who has theories as to why Bobi has grown so old: The dog lives in Portugal in a quiet, peaceful environment.
He was never tied to a chain or a leash, but could walk around as he pleased.
In addition, Bobi spends a lot of time with other animals, in the video you can see him with cats.
According to the video, the previous record holder for the oldest dog of all time was a dog named Bluey.
The Australian Cattle Dog died in 1939 at the age of 29 years and five months and has appeared in many Guinness World Records ever since.
Incidentally, the “man-years times seven” formula has now been scientifically refuted.
Instead, researchers at the University of California San Diego came up with a new formula in 2020 that can be used to compare dog and human ages.
The aging process in dogs is by no means linear, but starts very quickly and slows down over the course of their lives.
According to the researchers, a one-year-old dog corresponds to a 30-year-old human and a four-year-old dog to a 52-year-old human.
But no matter how you calculate: Bobi is definitely very, very old.
