Lucky Chicken, a chicken eatery in the Aharon Pavilion (Lucky Chicken)

At this point in our lives as foodies, it seems we can officially despair of the lack of oil-worthy food trucks around us.

At this stage of our lives as sports fans, it seems that it is possible to be styled in the most official way possible by the lack of local tailgating parties outside the stadiums.

All the first columns of "Going Eaters"

got stuck at the familiar bureaucratic threshold of blue-and-white governance, even though they are the most Israeli thing you can think of - spontaneous and diverse and colorful and non-committal.

The latter fell victim to our uncompromising desire to knock a monopolistic cash register that prioritizes business over consumers, even though there is nothing more natural than doing "on the fire" before a game, in the parking lot of the stadium, with the guys.

The result is, as usual, too few decent places to eat on the way, even less tasty mandatory stops that complete a really fun "game-day", and above all lots and lots of compromise on the way to and from the game, or at least luck.

And you said luck, you said "Lucky Chicken".

That is, if you are Maccabi Haifa fans.

Better, another.

Exactly one year (almost) since they opened their chicken eatery in the Beitan Aharon commercial complex, its partners - Shahar Bohadana, Shaliu Nachman and Yoel Levithan - decided to refuse to set foot in the place and hit the drumstick, and instead to expand the menu, innovate and refresh.

On the face of it, it's a shame to touch what works and it's even more of a shame to make it difficult on the super-busy lane, but a look at the words I wrote at the time - "There's not enough road here, and there are too many barriers and borders, and too little fried chicken between them", among other things - explains very well the thing

Because if a year ago the consensus was that there wasn't enough fried chicken here, now it's clear to everyone that we're on the cutting edge of a trend, and if only in Tel Aviv can you name a double-digit number of sandwiches like this, then a trip to "Lucky" should bring added value, well More, another - and better both together.

The result is no less than six new dishes that join the menu which is from the beginning "how much fried is okay to eat without getting up tomorrow morning with Fomo?"

- all of them are quite a logical derivative of the spirit of the place.

This is "Chicken Popcorn" (a pile of small chicken pieces as they are or with one of the house sauces, NIS 38), "Popcorn Mountain", which is a long bun with "Lucky Aioli", pickles, hot sauce and the same "Chicken Popcorn" (NIS 48), Korean chicken ("Lucky aioli", crispy chicken dipped in gochuging sauce, coleslaw and kimchi pancake, NIS 59), "Soft and tender" (crispy tenders in a long bun with "lucky aioli", lettuce , pickles and hot sauce, NIS 48), "The Dog" (chicken sausage with a crispy coating in a long bun with "lucky aioli", pickles, pickled onion, gochuging and coleslaw on the side, NIS 48) and "Paul House" (three hot wings horse,

Home peace needed.

We arrived on Saturday at noon, the most difficult time of the week for both service data and service recipients.

The place was busy, bustling and very dynamic, but far from lacrosse, far from sweating and very far from being Israeli.

Perhaps this is the normality of such a civil weekend lunch, which brings together families for their children, repeat customers who know what they want without a touch screen and those green fan groups who know very well where to eat for the week (right here) and where not to starve (near the stadium of course, in a section that is not of course at all ).Maybe it's the chicken, and maybe it's the "Lucky Soda" (homemade lemonade with celery leaves and soda), which is poured here almost without asking the children as it is, and the parents (with gin, because it's Shabbat and why not actually).

And so, We took over a table, piled up napkins, and started getting dirty.

The sausage arrived first with a load of prejudices to disprove.

She did it in the first bite, with a relatively thick and relatively crispy coating, which boxed well with the soft bun.

The meat, quite neutral as a concept, received positive reinforcements from many good pickles, and the lifting itself was done by the aioli and the slightly spicy pepper sauce.

further.

A medium-sized bucket of "popcorn chicken" in salted caramel sauce signaled the continuation of the stained finger games.

The coated pieces - small to smaller, coated and crunchy as if there were no table manners in the world - were meaty enough to understand what is actually being eaten here, and wrapped-covered enough to understand what it is eaten with.

The four-hander kept bumping into the bucket, and pouring the remaining pile on the tray didn't help the peace of the house.

This is exactly what "Popcorn Mountain" did, the carbohydrate version of that bucket, which gathers all this goodness into pickles and hot sauce, in a long, long bun.

It's hard to hold it, it's hard to bite into it, it's hard to leave it, and above all it's hard to give it up as well (and maybe because) when beloved eyes are wondering across the table when you decided it wasn't a portion to share.

After that, I approached with work accident insurance to pick up the excess baggage which is a "short rib sandwich".

Technically accurate definition, though also the understatement of 2023

The six new creations join what is already a unique, consistent and excellent chicken celebration, placing excellent sandwiches at the center, and not forgetting to invest in sauces and toppings.

Seriously, when did you see so much okra on tables in this country?

In addition to that, they have successfully established here a happy hour deal (21:00-23:00) that pours generous beer, a cute lunch deal, a (1+1) weekday children's meal deal, an "Earthquake" deal on Shabbat and Sunday evening, and also "Lucky Box" with almost everything there is to eat here.

positive reinforcement.

This attention, the answer to every desire and whim, and the ability to handle the Saturday afternoon rush without harming that sacred moment that happens a second before the sandwich approaches the mouth, make "Lucky Chicken" a must-stop on the way to the game, on the way back from the game, and as in the case of Maccabi fans Haifa last Saturday - better even during the game itself.

No Pod-Trucks?

No tailgating?

Our luck.
