Skiing, excursions and gourmet experiences to combine a holiday at high altitude with the discovery of local products and restaurants.
This is the opinion of over 90% of the population without distinction between women and men, as emerges from the new 2023 edition of the Report on Italian food and wine tourism by Roberta Garibaldi which will be presented in May.
This is the first analysis where the expectations and spending propensities of the tourist are analysed, where it is also discovered that 68% of the interviewees want to taste the typical dishes of the chosen place in a local restaurant and more than one in four has foreseen a visit to a restaurant or in a historic bar during your stay in the mountains.
The fine dining experience in the mountains appeals above all to men and even more to the 18-24 age group, where it exceeds 27%.
The typical mountain cuisine remains the point of reference for the majority of those interviewed who are increasingly open to new experiences.
And so yes to restaurants but also to visits to food production sites for a full immersion in the territorial mood.
In fact, two out of three tourists show the will to deepen this knowledge by organizing various types of activities.
The most "popular" is a visit to a farm (24%), followed by dairies (23%) and cellars (22%).

Among males there is a predisposition to organize visits to breweries, while females are more attracted to chocolate factories.
Among other experiences there is a visit to a local market, chosen by over 40% of the sample, and the activities of small artisan shops of taste with over 37%.
And more than 57% of those interviewed aim to participate in an event linked to food and wine, better if focused on food and followed by wine and beer.
Among the experiences of active tourism, however, those of wellness treatments (Spa, massages, ...) on the theme of wine, beer and oil stand out.
Among the youngest (ages 18-24) there is a particularly high intention to participate in outdoor sports activities such as taste trekking, bicycle or mountain bike tours between the places where food is produced.
