Portuguese Carlos Queiroz is the new coach of the Qatar national team.
He takes the place of the Spaniard Felix Sanchez, whose contract has not been renewed after the lackluster experience at the World Cup of the home team, eliminated after losing all three matches in its group.
Queiroz, who will turn 70 next March, was in charge of Portugal at the 2010 World Cup and then led Iran to play for the world championship tournament in 2014, 2018 and also in 2022, at the end of which he was in turn sacked after the rapid elimination of the Persian national team.
The Portuguese was also manager of the United Arab Emirates, Colombia and Egypt, as well as Real Madrid and assistant to Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.
