3,600 meters of rails, 189 sleepers and 12,000 screws
from the Río Negro
Patagonian Train
railway network left that branch line without operation, as confirmed by the president of the state company,
Daniel García
.
As detailed, they were stolen from the road that connects
Bahía Blanca with Carmen de Patagones, in the section that runs through the province of Buenos Aires
.
The unprecedented robbery directly affects the Patagonian Train, which has the concession from the Aguará Station to Viedma, and planned the cargo service for mid-March.

, García said that
the police complaint
and the presentations in the federal court have already been made.
"Unfortunately it was like that, the robbery
was very close to the General Cerri Station
, about 1,500 meters away," the official said.

They used a torch: how was the robbery of the Patagonian Train
García explained that the track would have been
cut with a torch into sections of two meters
and the parts loaded into a truck, and estimated that the identity of the thieves could be known in a short time.

those cut rails are no longer useful
," he clarified.
In this sense, he said that to recover this road it will be necessary to dismantle sections that are already concessioned by the state company and in disuse, to
build a secondary
and bring new rails from Buenos Aires.

It was a very hard blow for us
because that section was in perfect condition", he clarified.
In this context, the objective of the Patagonian Train will be to be operational, at the latest, in
the first half of April
.
With this objective, García said that "all this implies a very important job and cost, but there is a very strong commitment from the province to advance in this transformation of the Train."
"This
is going to delay us
, but the project is not going to stop us," he assured.
He also affirmed that
the National Government is already aware
of the problem and that, for the road repair work, "there is a shared will."
"This is unthinkable,
what they did on a road that was abandoned for so long is crazy
, but there is a lot of information that we gave the police so that this can be resolved," he complained.
And he pointed out: "We are not going to abandon this project that promotes the development of regional economies and allows people to market their products."
García remarked that the operation of the train, "is a State policy that
is not going to be stopped by a vandalism act
."
Finally, he said that "it is important that, when in doubt, people approach the police to notify them when they see strange people on the road."
Based on what happened, he warned: "We are going to
notify the police of our employees
, who will be duly identified," he concluded.
