Allmendingen: Firefighters at the scene of the fire

More than 240 firefighters have been fighting a fire in several buildings in Allmendingen in the Alb-Donau district since Monday evening.
The company building of an automotive supplier caught fire on Monday evening, the police said.
Four firefighters were injured fighting the fire.
One of them was taken to the hospital.
According to the police, the property damage is likely to be in the millions.
A fire alarm set off a fire alarm, officials said.
From a machine room, the flames quickly spread to the entire building.
There were several explosions, some violent.
The cause of the fire is not yet clear.
Two buildings in the immediate vicinity were evacuated as a precaution.
Residents have been asked to keep their windows and doors closed.
The federal highway 492 was blocked in both directions.
The emergency services are still busy with embers, said a police spokesman in the morning.
