(ANSA) - ROME, 07 FEB - Cold air masses from the Balkans will hit Italy, bringing snowfalls to low altitudes in the South and regions of the mid-Adriatic.
At the same time a cyclone forming on the North African coast, rising towards Sicily, will cause a marked increase in eastern ventilation on the extreme southern regions.
This is indicated by a weather alert from the Civil Protection.
The warning forecasts strong storm winds over Calabria and Sicily from tomorrow morning, with probable gusts of strong storm or storm on Thursday.
Strong sea storms along the exposed coasts.
Also from late morning tomorrow, snowfalls are expected down to sea level in Emilia-Romagna, Marche, Abruzzo and Molise with generally weak, moderate contributions to the ground above 200-400 metres;
above 200-400 meters in northern Puglia and Basilicata, with weak contributions to the soil;
above 500-700 meters in Calabria and Sicily, with low to moderate contributions to the ground.
