(ANSA) - SANREMO, 07 FEB - "Article 21 of the Constitution is my favorite and the most important: the pillar of all human freedoms".
Roberto Benigni for his monologue at the opening of the Sanremo festival chooses the article on freedom of expression.
Specifically, the Constitution states: "everyone has the right to freely express their thoughts".
"A simple language that seems written by a child, with a strength and beauty that leaves one amazed. But if they wrote it, it was necessary - says the comedian -. Because during the twenty years one could not think freely.
Article 21 allowed us free yourself from the obligation to be afraid".
"In countries very close to us, opponents are imprisoned and chained, just because they show their faces or hair, or because they dance and sing. How wonderful and extraordinary it is that in Italy everyone has the right to freely express their thoughts. We must remember this. The best thing for the future is remembering to have the past in the present".
