In the UK, parents are said to have left a disabled teenager to her own devices in the pandemic. The 16-year-old died alone, obese and in a room with lots of vermin.

Kaylea Titford is said to have been a bright and happy teenager until the beginning of the corona pandemic, and in her former wheelchair basketball team she was even considered a candidate for the British Paralympics team.

But in the course of the pandemic, her parents neglected the teenager, who was disabled from birth and became fatter - before she died alone at the age of 16 with a body mass index of 70 and in devastating hygienic conditions.

A court in Great Britain has now found Kaylea's father guilty of grossly negligent homicide.

This is reported by the Guardian and the BBC, among others.

The sentence against the 45-year-old could be announced in Swansea in early March.

The teens' mother had previously pleaded guilty to the same charges in a December trial.

Toenails six months uncut

Born with water on her brain and spina bifida, the handicapped girl had progressively deteriorated from the moment she became isolated and out of school.

The parents, who have a total of six children, failed to control their daughter's diet, the reports said.

Kaylea also had to live under unworthy conditions before she finally died in early October 2020.

According to the reports in the process, the rescue workers called for help had become sick because of the smell in the girl's bedroom.

They discovered maggots under her body.

The youngster recently weighed 146 kilograms, with a height of just 1.45 meters.

According to the Guardian, her toenails had not been cut for at least six months, and her armpits were black.

The bathroom was littered with feces.

The cause of death was eventually identified as inflammation and infection in extensive areas of ulceration.

During the three-week court hearing, Kaylea's father admitted that he had let his daughter down.

However, he denied the accusation that he killed her.
