(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, FEBRUARY 07 - In preparation for the extraordinary summit of European leaders scheduled for next Thursday and Friday, a videoconference was held between the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the premiers of Hungary, Poland, Belgium, Finland, Malta, and the Bulgarian head of state, Rumen Radev in which the "war in Ukraine, the economic difficulties in Europe and clandestine immigration" were discussed.
This was announced in a tweet by Zoltan Kovacs, spokesman for the Hungarian premier, Viktor Orban.
During the videoconference, the Hungarian prime minister "said that access to EU cohesion and reconstruction funds should be made much faster and simpler for EU member states".
With regard to Ukraine, Kovacs explains, Orban "has once again called for an immediate ceasefire and peace talks, as well as a substantial political debate on the sanctions from Brussels, which are destroying the European economy".
