Titanic

is no exception to the rule.
The idea for his film took shape in 1988, when the filmmaker was doing research for
Abyss
(1989).
During an expedition, he films icebergs off the coast of Nova Scotia.
Quickly, he became passionate about the technology used to explore the wreckage of the
Titanic
.
He watches
A Night to Remember
(1958, Roy Ward Baker) or
Titanic
(1953, Jean Negulesco).
But at the heart of the historical reconstruction of the tragic shipwreck of April 14, 1912, he thinks of integrating a love story made of comings and goings between present and past.
