(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 08 - The toll from the earthquakes that hit southern Turkey has so far risen to at least 7,926 dead, including victims in Syria: the Turkish government, Syrian state media and the Syrian civil protection NGO White announced Helmets (White Helmets).

At least 1,220 people died in rebel-held areas of Syria, while at least 812 in government-held areas.
In Turkey the death toll has risen to at least 5,894.
