Josie Katz at the tribute show in her honor: "I can't believe this is happening" | Israel today

The world of culture saluted the beloved singer who celebrated her 82nd birthday this year • After the best artists came on stage and performed her greatest songs, Katz came up and reminded her friends of the legendary "High Windows" band: "Thank you to two men who are no longer with us but are in my heart, Eric Einstein and Shmulik Kraus"


The Israeli cultural world saluted one of its heroines this evening (Wednesday), Josie Katz.

It happened as part of a tribute to the 55th anniversary celebrations of the unforgettable album of "The High Windows", as part of the Winter Festival of the Culture Hall.

"It was a wonderful evening," said Katz at the end of the tribute show, "I was happy to see my friends, I am honored that they came to sing our songs. I admire you more than you admire me." 

She later thanked her friends in the legendary band who passed away, Eric Einstein and Shmulik Kraus and said: "Both are no longer with us, but they are in my heart." 

The best artists took the stage during the evening and gave exciting performances of her great songs, including Eli Magen (who replaced Eric Einstein in "The High Windows"), Berry Sakharoff, Keren Ann, Assaf Amdorski, Geva Alon, Karni Postel, Shlomi Shaban, Efrat Gush, Mika Carney, Alon Ader and Yael Kraus.

Katz, who celebrated her 82nd birthday this year, told Israel Hayom before the show: "I'm very excited. I still can't believe that this event is happening in my honor. I haven't slept for a week. Artists that I love very much take part in this show. Thank you For all those involved in the craft".

The evening opened with Shlomi Shaban, Yael Kraus and Asaf Amdorsky, a trio that performs with the songs of the high windows, who performed the song "First Love", and behind them the original performance of the windows was projected on a huge screen.

The trio continued with "You can't".

to the applause of the audience.

"We are proud and excited to be here tonight with Josie, it's quite rare to pay tribute to a hero who is here with us," Amdorski said.

"We hope you will feel the love and appreciation that we and everyone who will perform tonight for your wonderful work and your magical voice," Kraus added.

The artistic direction of the tribute show was entrusted to Ethi Ante Segev, and the musical direction was Nadav Hollander.
