2023-02-08T12:26:20.301Z

The unions count 80% of strikers among the employees of the refinery. The strike is also renewed at the other sites of the TotalEnergies group.

Some 300 demonstrators blocked access to the TotalEnergies refinery in Donges (Loire-Atlantique), near Saint-Nazaire, on Wednesday morning, in the wake of the national day of action against the pension reform project organized the day before, noted AFP journalists.

The demonstrators, among whom were not only employees of the refinery but also representatives of other sectors, such as railway workers, teachers or dockers, early in the morning lit a fire of pallets across the departmental road which serves the refinery.

After cutting a fence, they also briefly occupied the rails of the railway line linking Saint-Nazaire to Nantes, under the watchful eye of the police deployed nearby.

If no fuel delivery left the site on Wednesday, the installation continued to operate, however, specify the strikers.

It is a successful symbolic operation because it has brought together a whole host of different professions who stand in solidarity against the pension reform, an operation which will not be the last

”, declared Mathieu Pineau, secretary general of the CGT Mines and Energy. in Loire-Atlantique.

He predicts

a whole "series of actions punches and renewable strikes

" in the wake of the new national day of demonstrations organized on Saturday.

"

When you have almost 3 million demonstrators in the streets on three occasions, that it does not run out of steam, that you have 93% of the active population who do not want reform and that we have a government that is deaf and that continues to be the puppet of financiers by despising the French people, we have no choice.

We'll have to go, that's how it is

, ”says the trade unionist.
