(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 09 - According to information collected by the Oryx group, Russia has lost about 2,000 operational tanks since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, or up to half of its entire tank fleet.
CNN writes it citing visual evidence collected by the open source intelligence website.
Oryx verified 1,000 Russian tank losses during the war.
Another 544 were captured by the Ukrainians, 79 damaged and 65 abandoned.
The toll doesn't include losses that aren't visually confirmed, said Jakub Janovsky, a military analyst at the blog: The actual toll could be closer to 2,000 tanks.
