Last Saturday, "suddenly and unexpectedly," as his artist agency 60plus now announces.
Yes, he was old - but not a trace of old age.
"We mourn the loss of a great actor and a warm-hearted person who was interested and committed into old age," his agency said.

Schaad played in the ARD "Lindenstraße" as well as in "Ein Fall für Zwei" on ZDF, had a role in "Diese Drombuschs", in "Soko 5113", "Soko Köln" and "Soko Leipzig".
In old age, Schaad celebrated success with the series “Club der rote Bänge” on Vox, which started in 2015.
This received, among other things, the German Television Award.
The senior was also part of the team for the current ZDF series, which has high ratings, “Gestern waren wir noch Kinder” (Yesterday we were still children).

Dieter Schaad was born on April 2, 1926 in Wiesbaden.
In the post-war years from 1945 to 1947 he attended the drama school there and learned his craft.
From then on he was not only able to show his art in film and television - he also had engagements at many theaters, for example in Worms, Bielefeld, Krefeld, Cologne, Darmstadt and Wiesbaden.
One of his last "Tatort" appearances was also impressive: "This case will be remembered," wrote the critic of our newspaper when the crime thriller "Im toten Winkel" was broadcast in March 2018. And thanks above all to Dieter Schaad: In the role of an old man man who smothers his wife who is in need of care with a pillow, he made the desperation of a person about the hopelessness of his life situation palpable.
