(ANSA) - TRIESTE, FEBRUARY 09 - A 58-year-old man died this afternoon following an accident at work that occurred at Pier VII in the port of Trieste.
The man fell into the sea with the forklift.
The alarm was raised by colleagues who did not see him return.
The nurses of the Regional Health Emergency Operations Structure sent the medical and ambulance crew to the scene.
A long resuscitation was unsuccessfully attempted.
The victim would have fallen into the sea while he was engaged in reversing.
The worker, Paolo Borselli, aged 58, was an employee of Alpt, the Agency for port workers of Trieste.
The body was recovered by firefighters.
The investigation into the case is being conducted by the Maritime Police.
The accident is causing the protest of the port workers who are gathering in these hours in front of Gate 4 for a sit-in.
The president of the Port Authority, Zeno D'Agostino, has expressed condolences and closeness to the family underlining the commitment to ensure safety at work.
