Arcom's sanction has fallen: at the end of the procedure initiated after Cyril Hanouna's remarks during the
program "Touche pas à mon poste", broadcast on November 10, 2022, the C8 channel must pay an amount of 3 .5 million euros.
Cyril Hanouna had violently taken MP Louis Boyard (LFI) to task, calling him "
shit
", "
jester
", "
fucker
", "
moron
",
after he had accused the "
five richest people
from France to "
impoverish Africa
", quoting Vincent Bolloré, owner of the Canal+ group and its C8 channel, during a sequence devoted to the migrant boat Ocean Viking.
The regulator considered that “
these remarks violated the rights of the guest, respect for his honor and his reputation
”.
Arcom also considers that "
the sequence reflected a lack of knowledge by the publisher of its obligation to control
its antenna
", listed in article 2-2-1 of its agreement.
In a second decision, Arcom gave C8 formal notice "
to comply in the future with the stipulations of article 2-3-8
of its agreement relating to the honesty and independence of information and programs that contribute to it
.
The altercations and incidents during Cyril Hanouna's broadcasts have already earned his channel numerous warnings and sanctions, including a fine of 3 million euros for a hoax deemed homophobic in May 2017.
