There are several reasons why an orchid does not form new flowers.
With a few small tweaks, you can get them blooming again.
If you have a green thumb, you can enjoy blooming orchids all year round.
However, some species insert one or more flowering breaks.
Some don't seem to want to wake up from this.

If the orchid sheds its last bloom several weeks after purchase, this is not a cause for concern.
Many species, such as the Cattleya orchid or the Phalaenopsis species, only bloom once or twice a year.
With a little patience and the right care, they will flower again a few months later.
If this does not happen, it may be due to the lack of flowering stimulus such as a drop in temperature, explains garden expert Markus Phlippen in the WDR program

.
While orchids usually feel comfortable at temperatures of 20 to 25 degrees Celsius, a temporary room temperature of 15 to 16 degrees can be very beneficial.
This can be achieved, for example, by placing the orchid in a cooler room such as the guest room or bedroom for four to six weeks.
This puts the orchid in a season when it gets significantly cooler at night in the tropics.

Offer the orchid new flowering incentives with the right care
Changing from a darker to a lighter place without direct sun can also be helpful.
A pruning also makes sense: the old, faded flower stalk is cut off just above the second eye so that the plant can sprout again there.
According to the Gartendialog.de
portal, if the plant shows no signs of producing flowers even after a pause in flowering for more than a year,
reducing the amount of water and fertilizer used also offers a new flowering incentive.

During the growth and flowering phase, the flowers are encouraged by taking good care of the orchid: it is very important to water it properly.
The plant needs low-lime water about once a week, preferably in the form of a short immersion bath.
It is also important to provide the orchid with orchid fertilizer every week or two.
