Munich – Customers can be a real challenge for the supermarket they visit.

For a variety of reasons.

For example, when they are constantly pestering employees with suggestions for improvement.

Or use the wrong tone when criticizing because a beloved product is out of stock again or the recent price increase is upsetting.

But also if the payment at the checkout is anything but smooth and the line of people behind you is growing.

A Rewe branch in Düsseldorf was faced with a completely different task.

Because one customer brought a lot of time with him during his visit.

And also a particularly large number of returnable bottles.

As can be seen from a photo posted on Twitter, he suddenly gave up empties worth 160.25 euros.

Among them was not a single box, but only bottles, as can be read on the photographed receipt.

This visit apparently also pushed the deposit machine to its limits.

Because the incredible 641 bottles were swallowed in stages.

Twice 41, twice 40, once 80 and to top it off once 399 were on the various receipts that were billed at the checkout.

Of course, these numbers raise questions.

How long were the bottles collected before the customer could part with them?

And where were they stored for so long?

The masses of bottles must have taken up a lot of space.

And not just found a place on a shelf or in a dusty corner.

The customer also alluded to this, writing with a wink to his tweet: "Redeemed the entire deposit, suddenly found new space."

However, how he will fill the “new space” remains his secret.

But does the Rewe branch have to expand now?

Even if the bottles are squeezed directly there, 641 newcomers are of course not without.

In addition to the deposit machine, the cashier was not to be envied either.

Because in return the customer bought: nothing.

Not even new bottles.

The 160.25 euro deposit had to be paid out in full at the checkout.

The Rewe customer in the photo also holds the bills he has gotten in his hand together with the receipt for eternity.

One question remains to be clarified: Did the employees tell you that they would be happy to stop by more often in the future if a deposit accumulates?

And not just when 641 bottles have come together again.

At least the deposit machine should thank you.

After all, he's just a machine.
