The old Melbi stand in the corner of the Carmel market in Tel Aviv preserves an exciting family heritage and an equally exciting family recipe.
You can find here a classic version with rose water, peanuts and coconut (12 NIS) which is somehow both creamy and light, and pistachio hearts with halva and more pistachios on top (15 NIS) delicate, tasty and special.
Apart from these, there are also weekend desserts such as "Bavaria of the past", chocolate mousse, panna cotta and Kadaif, as well as trays for those who need to satisfy more massive cravings.

These are packages (NIS 12.90) of waffles filled with praline cream and covered in milk chocolate, as well as "Balzan Perpetium", a thin waffle covered in milk chocolate - both are crispy, moderately buttery, not too sweet, and definitely meet the excellent standard we are used to.

The giant of frozen pastries warms the house, and the refrigerators, with "Mama Mia", a new pizza series that tries very hard to speak Italian to Israelis.
The pizzas are prepared according to the traditions of the land of the boot, including prolonged rising and baking in a hot stone oven, they declare "excellent tomato sauce", "100% cheese" and "quality toppings".
It is not clear why such things are not standard, but this is not the problem of "delicacy" of course.
From the series, which currently contains six pizzas, we were sent to try a "rustic" pizza (a thin one with broccoli, artichokes, green olives and black olives) and a Neapolitan thin, each of which presented an upgraded homemade look, a very successful dough, certainly considering the genre, and also cheese and sauce indeed Felt good in the mouth.
At the same time, Delicacies returned its phyllo dough to the shelves, in a package containing two separate portions (250 grams each, NIS 21.90-22.90), which was designed to make it easier for consumers.
The dough itself is familiar, significantly better than most alternatives, and still manages to provide crispness where it is needed, and softness in other places.

The box includes six individually packed snacks, at a price of 93 calories per unit.
The taste is good, moderate in sweetness and feels mature, and the whole concept, as usual, knows how to take into account those who attack and hold back alike.

And we will end, as such days should end, with a drink: the global whiskey brand shakes and surprises with a new launch, in the form of Johnnie Walker Blonde.
This is a blend that combines whiskey from Cameron Bridge Distillery, fruity single malts from Cardo Distillery, and single malts aged in new American oak barrels.
As such, it aims to be approachable and young, and to provide Scotch whiskey that is "light, bright and sweet, for the benefit of new audiences" who have not yet settled on a favorite.
These intriguing statements were immediately poured into a glass with ice (and in the mouth), then mixed according to the recommendations (Sprite, but also apple juice and iced tea, go for it, you won't regret it) and returned for another round, and another, leaving behind a characteristic strength, but also Excellent vanilla.
