Going camping in Israel but don't know where?
Good, for that there are many overnight parking lots throughout the country.
But where do you find them?
Roy Levy, 18 years old, sat for two years and "collected" almost all the overnight parking lots in Israel, and "put" them on a Google map that you can open and save, all for free as a service for travelers.
"It started last year," he told Walla!

"I was then a teenager in the 11th grade, and it was the time of the Golan Trail.
A WhatsApp group was opened for all the people from all over the country who are planning to go on the trail, and the main question asked there was 'Where can I sleep at the end of each day?'
I realized that there wasn't enough information about field lodging in Israel, and I started mapping only the Golan and sent a group of people who could help with this."
Roy explains that not all the points on the map are really overnight parking, but points where overnighting is possible and allowed.
"On the map, there are several types of places: parking lots of the Nature and Parks Authority, paid parking lots, ones with toilets, showers, water, sometimes electricity, and more. There are KKL parking lots, which are mostly in the woods with picnic tables and bins, and there are good places to sleep that are not specified A camping site
, such as the Jordan River, the beaches in the Sea of Galilee, and the like."

"In most places on the map there is a description of the spot, what is there and a picture of the parking lot."

"The friends were enthusiastic, so I decided to distribute to the public"
After he finished mapping all the overnight campsites in the Golan Heights, Roy continued to the rest of the country.
"In order to collect the most accurate and correct information, I used the 'Amud Enan' software and the 'Israel hiking maps' app," he explains
. On the map there are over 340 overnight parking lots and spots where you can sleep on the ground throughout the country, and Roy adds that the map is still being improved and updated from time to time. "In most places on the map there should be a description of the spot, what is there and a picture of the parking lot.
If there are points that don't have such details - it's because the map is still being built, and their descriptions will come later.
One must pay attention not to sleep in prohibited places or those that harm the wild animals and of course take the garbage and not leave it in the parking lots."
So kudos to Roy!
