There is a new Söder on the Nockherberg: The actor Thomas Unger ("Garmisch Cops") will take on the role of the Bavarian Prime Minister, as the Paulaner brewery announced on Thursday in Munich.
»I'm really looking forward to my debut at the Nockherberg and the derblecken for politicians.
After all, that's the Bavarian high mass of cabaret," said the 52-year-old.
"I'm very excited," tweeted the real Markus Söder.
"Let's see how he will transform himself," wrote the prime minister.
»Is also called Thomas in my middle name myself – so there is already a first resemblance.«
Unger is “following in the big footsteps of his predecessor Stephan Zinner.
It was always great fun,” wrote Söder.
For 15 years, Stephan Zinner had played the role of today's CSU boss Söder from his beginnings as Secretary General to Prime Minister on the Nockherberg, last year he resigned.
»Remarkable musical talent«
Unger has everything you need to portray Söder on stage, said the two Singspiel authors, Stefan Betz and Richard Oehmann: "Underlying humour, a good stage presence and considerable musical talent."
After the compulsory Corona break, the traditional so-called derblecken of politicians will take place again for the first time this year on March 3rd.
