Pianist and composer Brett Bacharach, who wrote a number of timeless pop songs from the 1950s to the 1980s, has died at the age of 94. Bacharach, a Jewish-American, signed such well-known hits as "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head", " Close To You" and the theme tune of the movie "Arthur".
Bacharach is considered one of the most important names in music of the twentieth century.
He wrote songs in many styles, including country, R&B, pop and more.
Among others, he wrote songs for legendary artists such as Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones, The Carpenters, Neil Diamond and Christopher Cross.
Other songs written by the late musician, together with his co-creator Hal David, are "Walk On By" and "Say A Little Prayer", which became huge hits for Dion Warwick, one of the beloved and well-known singers in the 60s.
He also wrote "Baby It's You", "What's New, Pussycat?", "What The World Needs Now Is Love" as well as the joint song with Warwick, Stevie Wonder, Elton John and Gladys Knight "That's What Friends Are For" released in -1986 and whose revenues were donated to AIDS research.

During his long career, Bacher won numerous awards and titles, including six Grammy statuettes and three Oscars for soundtracks he composed for films.
In 2008, he was defined by the organizers of the Grammy Awards as "the greatest musical composer who ever worked".
73 of his songs entered the top 40 charts in the US, and 52 of them were included in the UK charts. A representative on his behalf confirmed the news of his death and said that he passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles.
